AN independent footwear business has stepped forward after opening its new store in Morpeth.

And with half of the summer holidays gone, Jump is aiming to get off to a strong start with its back-to-school range.

Its first shop was set up in Gosforth five years ago and following its success, it expanded by taking up a unit in Sanderson Arcade, which was launched at the start of the month.

The business is run by Jo Place and her sister Ruth Lovell, who said: “We have six children between us and when we first started looking for footwear we became frustrated with the limited range of kids shoes available so we decided to set up something a little bit different.

“Children’s feet are so important and that’s why we offer high-quality footwear. They are more durable than cheaper shoes, so in the long run they will save people money.

“Morpeth is a busy shopper destination and we believe our products fit in well with the other shops in the town, so we’re delighted to have opened our second shop here.

“Customers from Morpeth and Northumberland who went to the Gosforth store are pleased that there is now a local shop for them and we hope that parents will come and have a look at our back-to-school range, which we have fine tuned over the last five years.”

Jump sells other footwear, such as sandals and winter boots, and it covers newborns up to size six. Brands on offer include Ricosta, Petasil, Angulus and Start-rite.
