THE second phase of Morpeth’s new shopping centre will be officially opened on Wednesday.
And Dransfield Properties has revealed that it is lining up an independent bar and restaurant to fill the final unit on the former Morpeth Comrades Club site.
Work on the new shops, which also include JoJo Maman Bébé, Monsoon and Mountain Warehouse, has been completed on schedule by contractors Mansell.
The £3.5million investment in the town creates 50 new jobs.
At the launch event, the development team will be joined by children from Goosehill Nursery, as well as business and council leaders.
Dransfield Properties Managing Director Mark Dransfield said: “The opening of our new stores in the piazza area marks the completion of the main building work at Sanderson Arcade so this is a really momentous day for the centre.”
The Sanderson Arcade team will also present a cheque for £30,000 to the Children’s Foundation, the centre’s chosen charity during its first year.
Tyne Tees presenter Phillipa Tomson, who helped with the fundraising, will also be taking part in the presentation.
The money raised is being used to buy a 3D sensory distraction system for children undergoing painful procedures in hospital.
