TWO new retailers are heading to Sanderson Arcade, selling very different items.

Shoe-loving sisters Ruth Lovell and Jo Place opened their first Jump shop in Gosforth High Street in 2006, stocking shoes for school and leisure wear for babies and children up to 12 years old.

The women, who have six children between the ages of three and 13 between them, will launch their next outlet at Sanderson Arcade in late July.

Ruth said: “Shoe shopping with children can be frustrating but we want to make it a fun experience in a friendly environment which both the kids and parents can enjoy.

“Our customers are looking for something a little bit different, as well as a quality fit, and of course excellent customer service.

“The arcade is a lovely development and we are really excited to be opening our second store here in Morpeth.”

The shop will open in the unit next to Lemon and Vision Express.

Meanwhile, local couple Jamie and Christine Scott are preparing to open a shop that will sell gifts and homeware with a difference.

They have come up with the Just 4 U concept to provide customers with a range of unique products to suit all budgets, and have sourced a plethora of contemporary items from across Europe and further afield for their store.

The husband and wife team are currently busy fitting out and stocking their unit in the shopping centre’s gallery section to open in July.

Mr Scott said: “We watched Sanderson Arcade being built and it has made such a difference to the town.

“This is something we have talked about doing for some time and it’s the perfect place for us.”

Mrs Scott added: “We are stocking a really wide range of products, from pocket money items that children can afford to buy to more expensive individual pieces.

“We are looking everywhere at the moment to source good quality products.”

Although Mrs Scott has a background in retail, this is a career change for her husband, who worked in the niche field of supplying specialist stone to the construction industry after a career as a footballer which saw him playing for Newcastle United in the 1970s.

Centre Manager Debbie Anderson is looking forward to welcoming both units to the arcade.

She said: “We are really excited about Just 4 U joining the line up at Sanderson Arcade.

“Christine and Jamie have got real passion and knowledge about the products they are stocking and they are going to be a great addition to the centre.

“Jump is a great independent retailer with a really fabulous range of children’s shoes in a fun and funky environment. We can’t wait to see the new store when it opens at the arcade later in the summer.”
