Niche law firm welcomes a new ‘family’ member

A NICHE North East legal firm is continuing its rapid expansion by welcoming another new member to its family.

Major Family Law, which is based in Ponteland, has announced the appointment of solicitor Lucinda Connell to its ranks.

Ms Connell qualified in 2000 and has specialised in family law ever since. She has been an approved member of the Law Society’s Children Panel since 2005, is a member of the Association of Lawyers for Children, a trained collaborative lawyer and a member of Resolution.

She joins the firm from Beecham Peacock.

She said: “I am very much looking forward to joining Major Family Law. To be part of such a vibrant and pro-active team, and one that is firmly committed to its local and wider community, is very exciting.”

The specialist legal firm has experienced an impressive growth in size and reputation since it was founded just four years ago when owner Joanne Major, who was previously head of the family law department of a large city centre firm, started the business from her kitchen table.

It is now listed in the Legal 500 as a Top Tier firm and employs four solicitors.

Ms Major has recently been shortlisted as one of just four lawyers nationally for the title Innovative Family Lawyer of the Year, which will be awarded in London in October.

However, she says the success is down to the dedication of her team and she is delighted to welcome another member.

She said: “Lucinda has extensive experience in all aspects of divorce and relationship breakdown. She is an accomplished advocate and a skilled negotiator. With outstanding technical knowledge, she also commands an enviable rapport with clients, making her a vital addition to the Major Family Law team.”
