A company that works to help others across the world has picked up a top business award.

Mayborn Group has developed a corporate social responsibility programme, and was chosen as the winner of the first Corporate Social Responsibility Award.

Leysa Relf, CSR advisor, said: “We have developed a programme called LIFE with four main goals – Learning, to engage, educate and develop our people, Innovation, to design and manufacture innovative and responsible products, Families, to engage with families and support the local communities in which we operate, and Environment, to minimise the impact of our operations on the environment.

“I am delighted that we have won this award as it’s something that we feel very strongly about and support. This is the start for us, there is loads more that we have planned in the North East and around the world.”

Through employee volunteering, it helped to develop a sensory garden, donated more than 100,000 cups and soothers to hospitals and deprived communities in Moldova and Romania, and developed a UK Employability Programme to help young people to get experience and into work.

The Education Network and Matfen Hall were also shortlisted for the award, which was sponsored by The Banks Group.
