A regional employer’s operational procedures and performance has received a glowing report card from independent auditors.
Inspectors from SGS United Kingdom, an inspection, verification, testing and certification firm, went to five Banks Group sites to assess its competence in surface coal mine design, development and operation.
They did not find a single concern over non-conformity with any of the required standards – the sites visited included the Shotton and Brenkley Lane surface mines and its headquarters building in Meadowfield, Durham.
The report was based on staff interviews, observation of activities and a review of documentation and records.
Gavin Styles, executive director at Banks Mining, said the report’s findings are a result of the “hard work and dedication” of all of its workers.
