A STANNINGTON couple were recognised on the national stage for their new business premises.

Mark and Celina Whittaker have run Premier Meats for more than 20 years and the company officially opened its state-of-the art Kingston Park facility in March.

After being shortlisted in the Butcher’s Plus category of the Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards, it received a runner-up accolade at the ceremony in London.

Mr Whittaker said: “I’m absolutely delighted to receive the award on behalf of everyone involved with Premier Meats.

“Being recognised at the highest level in a national event by an independent team of industry experts emphasises the excellent quality meat products we provide to our customers.”

He added: “I’ve been overwhelmed by the messages of support received since the announcement we’d made the national final.”

The business also operates another butchery facility at the Team Valley Trading Estate, attends 11 local markets per week throughout the region and supplies a range of high quality produce to restaurants and hotels.
