STAFF at Heighley Gate Nursery & Garden Centre have recently presented St Oswald’s Hospice with two cheques totalling £1,761.

The money was raised by members of the team at the garden centre near Morpeth who took part in two different races in aid of the charity.

General Manager Roger Wale said: “Our Hardy Nursery Stock Expert, Nic Crofts, took part in the 2011 RunLiverpool Marathon and raised £1,021.

“Laura Armin, Warehouse Supervisor, and Bethanie Nisbet, Customer Service Assistant, both took part in the 2011 Bupa Great North Run and they collected £740.

“Bethanie, Laura and Nic all faced tough challenges but they trained really hard and we are delighted to be able to present St Oswald’s Hospice with these cheques.”

The charity provides specialist care for North East adults, young people and children with life-limiting conditions, and their families.

Community Fundraiser Jayne Crow said: “On behalf of the charity, I would like to say a big thank you to Bethanie, Laura and Nic for donating such a fantastic amount of money.”
