A BUSY supermarket will be checking out funds for poorly children in a year-long charity campaign.
Ponteland Sainsbury’s store has picked the Children’s Kidney Foundation at Newcastle RVI as its new charity partner.
The fund was chosen after customers were invited to nominate their favourite causes and after eight suggestions were put forward a vote was taken to determine the winner.
The prize is to benefit from a year of fund-raising activities at the store, as well as from volunteering.
Events are already taking place in aid of the foundation, including a recent cake stall that raised £93.
Store Manager Jason Harmer said: “The Children’s Kidney Foundation is such a worthy local cause and we are pleased and proud to be supporting it over the next 12 months.
“We will be letting our customers know of our fund-raising plans and we hope they can join our colleagues in helping to support them.”
