A VILLAGE food store turned tropical as staff donned their shades and sun hats for a fund-raising day.

The Co-operative Food store in Lynemouth was transformed on Friday for a fun-filled summer beach party.

Staff at the West Market Street outlet put on their colourful holiday clobber and organised a number of activities.

The event was part of a national initiative to raise funds for the Carers Trust, the Co-operative’s chosen charity of the year.

Money will help the charity to provide breaks, information, advice and support to young carers, aged 14 to 25, who are helping their loved ones.

Overall, the business aims to raise £5million this year.

Lynemouth Co-op Manager Christina Shearer said: “We’re determined to keep the fund-raising momentum going and are planning more events before the year is out.”
