A TRIAL business networking event in Morpeth was such a success that it will become a regular feature.
Newcastle Science City has been offering its First Friday North East sessions in Newcastle since 2009 as a popular forum for science and technology entrepreneurs to meet up and discuss topics of interest.
In February, the event branched out to Morpeth to test the appetite for a similar scheme in Northumberland and more than 30 people attended.
Now Newcastle Science City will run a regular free session in the area through close working with Sunderland University and the North East Chamber of Commerce.
It is hoped that word will spread about the local event and those attending will also take the chance to call into the city sessions.
Programme Manager Simon Green said: “Our research had shown that there was demand for this type of forum beyond Newcastle city centre and this was clearly demonstrated by the strong attendance and great feedback from our trial in Morpeth.
“Informal Friday events will hopefully become as much of a hotbed for innovation and inspiration as our established First Friday forum.
“We are hopeful that entrepreneurs and senior professionals who discover their local events will also attend First Friday in Newcastle, thereby enhancing the links between different parts of the region and helping to ensure that business is kept within the north east wherever possible.”
The events aims to help businesses form new partnerships, share expertise and work together.
The next free Morpeth forum will take place at Beetroot Grill in Bridge Street on Friday, June 17, from 8am to 10am.
