WORKS at the site of Morpeth’s new supermarket in Low Stanners are progressing on schedule.
Contractor Tolent Construction Ltd is continuing to carry out bulk excavation and the diversion of the Cotting Burn, while the electrical installations to the relocated substation are programmed to begin in three weeks.
Part of Staithes Lane will be closed to traffic during the week commencing April 2 to allow for more electrical installations.
A 50-metre section from the Red Bull roundabout will be closed, with access from Wellway Gardens and Gas House Lane.
A community noticeboard has been erected beside the pedestrian crossing on Dark Lane. It includes photographs showing the scheme’s progress and correspondence with the local community.
The 50,000 sq ft Morrisons food store, being developed by Dransfield Properties, is scheduled to open in spring 2013.
