Each month, one of the traders at the Wednesday market in Morpeth tells their story. Next up is Michael Adamson of Michael Adamson’s Fish.

Having been on the market for 28 years, Michael Adamson says that Morpeth is one of the friendliest markets around.

At his stall, he sells high-quality fresh fish which come from North Shields fish quay.

He stocks everything from sole, crab and shellfish to fishcakes, salmon and cod. To avoid disappointment, he also takes advance orders to ensure that if you pop down to the market, he will always have your favourite seafood ready to take home.

Mr Adamson is also a regular at other markets in the North East and he believes that Morpeth definitely has the most environmentally-conscious customers.

He said: “The people of Morpeth are certainly the greenest by far.

“Not only do they bring their egg cartons back to re-use for the eggs that we also sell, they always bring their plastic bags back to me, which is great not only for myself as I don’t have to give out as many, but also for the environment.”
