This month’s Meet the Trader is David Banks from The Cherry Tree, Consett, who serves Morpeth Market handmade chutneys and jams.

A newcomer to markets, Mr Banks set up the franchise in June 2014, starting with fairs and events.

He is now a regular at Morpeth Market, attending every Wednesday.

At the Morpeth Food and Drink Festival, on Saturday, October 3, Mr Banks will be selling his gold award-winning products, including his best-selling spicy tomato and caramelised chutney, blackcurrant and sloe gin jam and miniature gift packs.

He said: “I am glad to now be classed as a ‘regular’ by locals at Morpeth Market. It is a lovely setting for a market and the customers are all great, often coming back every week. Morpeth is a great town to trade in.”
