A NEW pub will open in Morpeth next week.
JD Wetherspoon will open The Electrical Wizard in New Market after a £785,000 refurbishment of the former Szoda Bar premises.
The pub is named after Dr Walford Bodie, known as The Electrical Wizard of the North, who brought his shocking magic tricks to the venue in its former days as the Coliseum cinema.
There is a large chandelier to re-create the grandeur of the old theatre, photographs and information boards about its history and an electrical sculpture.
It will be open from 8am to midnight, Sunday to Thursday, and from 8am to 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. Food will be served throughout the day.
The pub will officially be opened by Morpeth Mayor Ken Brown on Tuesday at noon.
