Shoppers can honour their favourite store at a Morpeth retail centre as voting opens for annual awards.

The Sanderson Arcade Awards aim to celebrate the teams, individuals and outlets who have gone the extra mile for customers over the past 12 months.

And as this year’s prize-giving ceremony coincides with the fifth anniversary of the shopping centre, there will be a special achievement award to recognise staff who have made an impressive contribution over the years of operation.

There will also be new gongs for Young Achiever of the Year and Independent Retailer.

Other awards to be handed out are for Manager of the Year, Customer Service Team and Community Engagement.

The top prize – Retailer of the Year – will be decided by shoppers in an online vote, while surveys will be carried out in the arcade over the coming weeks to find out which store ranks as the favourite with customers.

Centre Manager Medi Parry said: “This year is the centre’s fifth birthday and as well as celebrating and recognising the many very talented people we have working here, it’s also a chance to look back at what has been achieved since our very first shoppers stepped through the doors in November 2009.

“We’re hoping for a great response from all of our businesses at the arcade, and of course from members of the public to vote for their favourite store.”

More than 400 people now work at the arcade.

The awards will be presented at Barluga on Wednesday, October 22. Voting for Retailer of the Year is open until noon on Monday, October 20 at www.sandersonarcade.co.uk
