Work at leisure for centre’s new business boss

THE new business manager at Ponteland Leisure Centre is looking forward to the challenge of trying to increase the number of people using the facility.

Phil Evans’ new role will be to manage the whole centre, while developing the business and the staff. He will ensure health and safety is maintained throughout and deal with customer satisfaction.

Prior to this position, he has worked in various senior roles, including as Business Manager at Seaham Leisure Centre, and has worked in the leisure industry since leaving school in 2002.

Mr Evans said: “I am really pleased to be back at Ponteland as this is where I began my leisure journey and I am still familiar with the local people and groups that still use the facilities.

“I feel there is a huge amount of potential at Ponteland and I am looking forward to encouraging the local community to undertake a fit and active lifestyle.”

Ponteland Leisure Centre Contract Manager Ian Hamlet said: “I am pleased to announce Phil’s appointment at Ponteland Leisure Centre and I believe he is the right person to bring about growth within the business. He is already quite well-known around the centre and I am certain he will excel here.”
