THERE was a Royal honour for members of a Morpeth community group as they were introduced to Her Majesty the Queen.

Members of Morpeth Lions Club were among thousands of carers and volunteers to be invited to a garden party at the Alnwick Castle and Garden last week as Her Majesty visited the area with HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

And among those chosen to be presented to the Royal guests were Morpeth Lions David Wheeler, David Chambers and Simon Pringle.

Through Deputy Lieutenant Robin Dower they explained how the late Queen Mother was instrumental in Lions Clubs being formed in Britain and Ireland.

The event included refreshments and entertainment.
