A FRESH message has gone out about some recently added long-stay car-parking spaces in Morpeth.
The first phase of the underground car park in Staithes Lane was opened last month and just over 150 bays are available at the moment.
But the Morpeth and District Chamber of Trade has discovered that only half of them, sometimes less, are being used by workers during the week.
Member John Beynon said: “We want to make sure that residents and people coming from outside the town to work who need all-day parking are aware this facility is available to them.”
It costs £2 to stop all-day in the car park, although drivers can use the Northumberland countywide parking permit if they have one. It is free to disabled blue badge holders.
Further spaces will become available when the Morrisons supermarket opens next month.
