Residents have the opportunity to take to the dance floor at a Ponteland venue in aid of a search and rescue organisation that covers the county.

A ceilidh is to be held at the Memorial Hall on Saturday from 7.30pm. The music will be provided by the Whistling Sheep Ceilidh Band.

All of the money raised will help the work of the Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team (NNPMRT).

Since the start of 2016, the team has responded to 12 incidents. During 2015, the team undertook 23 searches for lost or overdue walkers and vulnerable or despondent individuals, 20 rescues for climbers, fell/trail runners and horse riders and two resilience incidents where NNPMRT responded to assist those affected by flooding.

Tickets for the ceilidh, which includes a supper, cost £16 – they are available in advance from Lesley Old (call 01670 504192 or email l.a.old@ncl.ac.uk). It is possible to turn up on the night, but supper is only available to those who buy tickets in advance.
