Charities chase distance runners

MARATHON runners are in much demand from charities.

St John Ambulance has a number of guaranteed Gold Bond places available for the Virgin London Marathon to offer runners in return for a £100 deposit and a pledge to raise at least £1,625 in sponsorship. Its team will each be offered a support package, running vest or T-shirt, fund-raising and training information and a post-race reception with massage, food and drink.

l The Meningitis Trust and World Cancer Research Fund meanwhile are urging runners who have secured their own place to consider joining their teams and raising sponsorship.

The Meningitis Trust will offer a running vest or T-shirt, race pack with training and dietary advice, fund-raising support, marathon updates, motivation and a post-race celebration with massage, a shower and buffet.

The World Cancer Research Fund will provide its runners with training and nutritional advice, a runners’ kit with a vest, a fund-raising pack and an online sponsorship page.
