A popular pub in Ellington has re-opened following a major renovation project.
The Plough Inn has been fully re-decorated with new flooring and lighting, new toilets and improvements to the beer garden as part of a £322,000 investment from pub company Punch.
On hand to pull the first pint was Anne-Marie Trevelyan MP – the establishment is in her Berwick-upon-Tweed constituency.
She said: “The Plough Inn is a real focal point for the local community and it’s great to see such a significant investment to help secure its continued success.”
The investment includes the pub’s kitchen being upgraded and extended to cater for a new menu. This will enable publican Katrina Robinson to offer a wider selection of freshly prepared traditional pub food.
“The refurbishment programme has gone really well and the pub is looking better than ever,” she said.
“I’m sure that my customers will be very impressed with what has been achieved.”
Openings manager for Punch, Samantha Ward, said: “This investment has really improved The Plough Inn’s facilities without sacrificing any of its character and charm.”
She added: “Katrina, who has been running the establishment since 2009, is a great publican and we are delighted to be supporting her in this venture.”
