A POPULAR Northumberland women’s choir will feature on BBC Radio Four next week.

Well-known presenter Clare Balding met Werca’s Folk when she came to Morpeth to film her Channel Four documentary Secrets of A Suffragette and heard them singing Emily Inspires Us Yet.

The song was written by director Sandra Kerr to mark the centenary of Emily Davison’s death.

It was Ms Balding’s idea to then make the choir the subject of one of her radio rambles and this recently took place in the Warkworth area.

The programme, featuring songs and interviews, will be aired on Thursday, September 26, from 3pm.
