A very enthusiastic group of women and men gathered at St George’s United Reformed Church in Morpeth to participate in the ecumenical Women’s World Day of Prayer service.

The women of St George’s led the service – its theme was Am I Being Unfair to You. The congregation almost filled the church.

The service had been prepared in The Philippines and so the costumes, colours and music had a definite Filipino flavour.

The music was ably led by Shirley Forster and Harriet Gilfillan. Mrs Forster co-ordinated the choreography as well.

A choir and the session band accompanied the congregational singing and many of those in attendance could be seen swaying and clapping to the rhythm.

Following the service, afternoon tea – prepared by the women of St George’s – was served in the church hall.
