National Health Service Retirement Fellowship, morpeth branch
The Morpeth Branch of the National Health Service Retirement Fellowship recently hosted the 25th Regional Conference at the Park Hotel in Tynemouth.
The branch was delighted that over 100 delegates from throughout the North East attended and found the morning speeches from Patron Ken Jarrold CBE, National Director John Rostill OBE and National Chairman Dr Cynthia Matthews invigorating.
A fascinating talk was given by the Air Ambulance and an insight in to the workings of Cavell Nurses was also given. Coincidentally, the Cavell Nurses celebrate their centenary next year.
The conference was delighted to present a donation to both these magnificent causes. Once the luncheon was over, the delegates and guests were entertained by the Silver Stars Ukulele Band — the sight of everyone doing the ‘hand jive’ had to be seen to been believed, before Morpeth Branch Chairman Audrey Kimberley brought the proceedings to a close.
This year is also the 25th anniversary for Morpeth branch and it has a programme of events lined up, including a visit to Doxford Hall, an excursion down the River Tyne and many interesting speakers.
