Council restock river

Wansbeck Angling Association

EXTRA fish will be put into the River Wansbeck, thanks to a council grant.

Wansbeck Angling Association has received £200 from Morpeth Town Council to go towards stocking the free stretch of the river through the town.

Chairman Doug Graham said: “We want to use the money to put fish in the free stretch, particularly to encourage youngsters of the town to fish. Any encouragement we can give is all for the better.

“We have a good free stretch in Morpeth, whereas it is £25 a day to fish in a reservoir and kids just can’t afford it.

“We would like to thank the town council very much for its support.”

The fish are likely to be put into the river next month.
