MORPETH was represented at a special event to mark the 500th anniversary of a major battle between England and Scotland in Northumberland.

The outcome of the Battle of Flodden in 1513 was a victory for the English and the death in battle of King James IV.

The service was attended by a large group of descendants, dignitaries and councillors from both sides of the border, including Couns Bob Robertson and David Clark representing Morpeth Town Council.

Coun Robertson said: “It was a solemn and moving ceremony that underlined the importance and strength of the bond between England and Scotland.”
