Priorities for action to improve facilities for pedestrians in Ponteland have been identified.
Authorities are submitting their preferred items to be installed or addressed to the county council to help it put together its Local Transport Plan for 2015/16.
Ponteland Town Council’s top potential project is a package of dropped kerbs – 10 at Edge Hill, four on Thornhill Road and two on Darras Road – for reasons of accessibility and health and safety.
Second on the list is seven raised bus stops along the A696 and third is new footpath sections in Eastern Way (500 metres), The Rise (800 metres), Errington Road and Marian Way (550 metres) and Western Way (400 metres).
A reserve list of items was also agreed at a full council meeting earlier this month.
They include the installation of speed cushions or chicanes on Western Way, pending satisfying the criteria, and new street lights on Marian Way, on the footpath between Kirkley Drive and Meadowfield and at the link between Middle Drive and Parklands.
