ON Sunday, Morpeth Footpaths Society will be meeting for a four-hour circular walk to Forestburn Gate, Lordenshaws and Spy Law.
The six-and-a-half mile route is fairly easy, with some muddy sections on field tracks and paths to the south of Simonside.
Meet at 10.30am in the lay-by next to The Gate pub (formerly the Crown and Thistle). Visitors of all ages are welcome, although no dogs are allowed.
For more details of this walk and the group’s 2014 programme, visit www.morpethfootpathssociety.org.uk
• How to get there: from Morpeth, take the Alnwick road (A192) to Fairmoor. Immediately after the A1 underpass, turn left and follow road towards Pigdon and Netherwitton.
Cross the bridge at Netherwitton and keep right on the Rothbury road for about four-and-a-half miles (past Nunnykirk School on left) to the junction with B6342 – The Gate pub is on the corner.
