Crafty folk among the pots and plants

THERE are fun activities on offer for all ages at a garden centre near Morpeth this week.

Heighley Gate Nursery and Garden Centre is hosting a Craft and Coffee Club session on Sunday, from 9.30am.

The informal mornings offer an opportunity to develop a new skill and swap ideas or hints and tips with others.

Those attending will need to provide their own basic equipment and can join in with the craft activities on offer, or just take along a project they may be working on at that moment in time. Tickets cost £3 per person and include tea or coffee.

On Tuesday, Michelle Ibbetson from Krafty Kidz will be hosting a Diamond Jubilee-themed children’s craft workshop. The activities will include designing a commemorative ceramic plate.

The session will be held between 11am and 3pm. All activities cost less than £6 per child.

Youngsters can also learn how to bake a range of tasty treats when Heighley Gate chef Danielle Millis puts on some baking workshops on three separate days.

The first one on Monday will be how to make hooting chocolate owls, Wednesday’s group will make cheese scones and the final session on Friday, June 8, is baking racing car cakes.

They are all taking place in the Garden Cafe from 11am onwards. Each one costs £4.50 per child and booking is essential.

Children must be accompanied by an adult for both the craft and baking workshops.
