Crash motorbiker airlifted to RVI

A MOTORCYCLIST was airlifted to hospital after an accident near Belsay.

The biker collided with a trailer on the A696, just north of the hamlet, at about 5.15pm on Saturday.

The Great North Air Ambulance Guardian of the North was called and a doctor and paramedic crew treated the man at the scene, before flying him to the RVI in Newcastle.

He suffered chest injuries in the crash and was kept in hospital for observation.The road was closed for about an hour.
