Driver faces death crash charges

A MORPETH man is facing a series of charges following a crash that killed a young mother earlier this year.

Claire Dickman, 24, was travelling in a Vauxhall Vectra that left the road and crashed at Barmoor Bank on the A192 in the early hours of March 31.

The single mother, of Eighth Avenue, Morpeth, who had recently moved to the town, died at the scene.

Now Ashley Lawson, 23, of Second Avenue, has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving, aggravated vehicle taking, having no insurance and driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence.

He will appear at South East Northumberland Magistrates Court in Bedlington on Wednesday.
