Face-to-face

POLICE officers were out and about in Ponteland to give residents the chance to discuss their concerns face-to-face.

The East Tynedale Neighbourhood Policing Team has been running a number of street engagement days where members visit shopping centres and businesses.

In Ponteland, officers continued to tackle the local issues of speeding, bogus callers in Darras Hall and scrap vehicles.

Speed check points were set up and police and community wardens visited addresses that had been identified as potentially vulnerable to bogus callers.

Officers also stopped and checked work vans and scrap vehicles to ensure they were legitimate.

East Tynedale Neighbourhood Inspector Kevin Oates said: “The Ponteland day of action was a great success.

“Officers spoke to lots of people from the area who were happy to see officers out on the streets and doing something about the issues that concern them.”

As well as the engagement events, the team regularly holds policing surgeries, forums and public meetings.
