Jewel thieves hit town shop

JEWELLERY thieves have struck at a Morpeth town centre shop.

Between 3.15pm and 3.30pm on Wednesday, October 26, a man and a woman entered a jewellers in Newgate Street and distracted a staff member while they stole a chain and a bracelet worth over £1,200.

The man is described as being dark-skinned, European-looking and aged around 45 to 55 years.

He is around 5ft 6ins to 5ft 8ins tall and of stocky build. He had dark-coloured thinning hair and a thin moustache. He was wearing a white collared shirt, grey suit jacket and trousers at the time of the theft.

The woman, also of European appearance, is around 5ft 8in to 5ft 9in tall and of medium build.

She had black-coloured greying hair tied back in a ponytail. She was wearing a dress. The top half was white/cream in colour and the bottom half dark blue.
