Lock it or lose it, warn police

POLICE have reminded workers to lock up their tools after equipment was stolen from an open van.

Opportunist thieves made off with various tools, including a nailgun and planer, after the vehicle was left unlocked in Hedgehope Crescent in Hadston last Thursday.

The workmen had left the van open when they went inside a house they were working on at about 10.50am and when they returned 15 minutes later they discovered that the equipment had been taken.

Officers are advising all workers to ensure their vehicles are secure whenever they leave them unattended, even for a few minutes, especially if tools are being stored inside.

They should also remove all equipment from their vehicles overnight and store it somewhere safe.

Anyone with any information about the theft should contact police on 03456 043043, ext 69191.
