POLICE have warned residents to lock their doors and windows overnight following a spate of burglaries.
Twelve burglaries were reported across Northumberland last weekend and officers have warned that criminals are on the prowl for easy targets.
In Red Row there were four house break-ins between 12am and 11.18am on Saturday, and in three cases the properties were not properly secured.
Numerous items were stolen, including two laptop computers and a black Toyota Landcruiser, which was later found in Lynemouth
Acting DCI Jeff Brown said: “We really need the public to help us put a stop to this type of crime.
“Regardless of where you live, if you leave your doors open then you face being targeted by criminals.”
Anyone with information about the burglaries or who saw suspicious activity should contact police on 03456 043043, ext 69191.
