Man loses part of his ear in town centre assault

A 30-year-old man had a large portion of his left ear bitten off during an assault in Morpeth at the weekend.

At around 2.45am on Sunday, police officers were called to the incident in Bridge Street and two men, the other a 26-year-old, were taken to hospital by paramedics.

A 25-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm and he has been bailed pending further inquiries.
