MORPETH residents can be in the know about crime through the use of modern technology.
Community messaging allows Northumbria Police to send out information via text, email and voicemail.
Hundreds of Northumberland residents are receiving updates about crime, witness appeals and crime prevention advice. Now Morpeth Neighbourhood Policing team is encouraging residents and businesses to join.
Those wanting to sign up should pass on their contact details and they will be added to a mailing list.
Morpeth Inspector Alison Best said: “Community messaging is just another way to engage with residents and it definitely won’t replace the face-to-face contact that we know our communities want with their local police officers. The system allows us to share information and pass messages on very quickly with our communities and in ways that are more convenient to them.
“The rural residents of Northumberland are our eyes and ears when it comes to tackling crime and so it pays to keep them up to date with what’s happening where they live.”
