Outboard theft fails

POLICE are appealing for information following an attempted theft of an outboard motor in Morpeth’s Coopies Lane Industrial Estate.

Between 10.30pm on Sunday, February 27 and midnight on Monday, February 28, offenders entered the rear yard of marine business The Captain’s Locker in Coopies Way.

They removed bolts securing a motor which attaches to a boat and put the item on the ground, although they made off without taking it from the premises. However, they caused £700 worth of damage.

Extra officer patrols are being deployed in the area.

Anyone with information about the offence should telephone Morpeth police on 03456 043043.
