Police appeal over burglaries

Extra officers have been placed on the Ponteland beat following two burglaries.

Police are appealing for information about the break-ins, which took place over the last week.

Thieves targeted a garage at the rear of a home in The Rise between 7.30pm on Thursday and 10am on Friday. A garage door was forced open, causing damage to the property, but the culprits left empty-handed.

The second burglary occurred at a house in Ladywell Way, between 9am on Friday and 4.30pm on Saturday. Thieves gained access from the rear of the property and forced a door. They stole a violin, toolbox, Sharp hi-fi and Bosch saw, and made off.

Police wish to speak to any witnesses to either incident and have urged anyone who may be offered stolen items for sale to contact them.

Officers are carrying out enquiries in the area and additional police are on patrol to reassure the community.

Anyone with information about the crimes should contact police on 101, ext. 69191, quoting log number 341 of 20/02/15, or ring Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
