Police hunt for two men after spate of thefts

POLICE are seeking two men in connection with a spate of thefts in the Morpeth area.

At Stanners Equipment on Coopies Lane, offenders jemmied open the cash box on the vacuum and made off with £20 worth of coins.

This caused £800 worth of damage.

The coin box of the jet wash at Stannington Services was forced open and thieves took the cash container, although it contained tokens and not cash.

Offenders tried to force entry to the vacuum and air machines at the Morrisons petrol station on Dark Lane but were unsuccessful.

All the incidents happened overnight on Thursday, August 2 and Friday, August 3.

Officers have issued descriptions of two men who they believe were involved in the thefts.

The first is approximately 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, wearing a light coloured hooded top, dark coloured trousers and dark coloured trainers.

The second is approximately 5ft 9ins tall, of medium build, wearing a dark-coloured hooded top with a light-coloured fleece, dark-coloured trousers and dark coloured trainers.
