Police warn motorists

POLICE are urging motorists in Morpeth to remove valuables from vehicles.

The warning comes after a thief smashed the window of a locked Peugeot parked in Oldgate to steal a pair of red and white Nike Air Max trainers that had been left on the seat.

The incident happened between 7pm on Monday and 6.50am on Tuesday.

Morpeth Neighbourhood Inspector Dave Simpson said: “If items do need to be left in vehicles, store them securely in your boot.”

Anyone with any information about the theft can contact police on 101, ext 69191.
