A MAN and a woman have appeared in court charged with robbery following an incident in a Widdrington takeaway.
Anthony Towers, 24, and Carol Cowell, 19, both appeared at South East Northumberland Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Towers also faces charges of driving while disqualified, driving without insurance and causing fear or provocation of violence.
Both were of no fixed abode, although Towers gave a Red Row address while Cowell gave an address in Amble in court.
The charges relate to an incident in Yum Yum Pizza in which it is alleged a member of staff was headbutted and around £300 was taken from the till.
The case will be sent to Newcastle Crown Court and was adjourned until Friday, August 26, at 10am.
Towers was remanded in custody, while Cowell was released on bail with conditions to reside at Dandsfield Square, Amble, a curfew of 7pm to 7am, to stay out of Widdrington and not to interfere with prosecution witnesses.
