YOUTH projects in Northumberland can get their hands on a share of £10,000.
The new Northumbria Youth Police Authority has organised an event where initiatives for 11 to 19-year-olds, with a support worker, can each bid for £1,000.
Funding can help get projects off the ground or support those already in existence and young people attending the It’s UR Choice event will help to decide who gets the money.
Northumbria Police Authority, which set up the programme, has given more than £80,000 through the participatory budgeting scheme to support projects that help tackle crime and disorder.
Chairman Mick Henry said: “It’s UR Choice is the first project our Youth Authority has developed and it mirrors the work we’ve been undertaking over the last three years.
“The scheme gives real power to young people. They know their local problems and they will decide where the money should be spent.”
Applications for the fund should be submitted by Monday.
