THE new Ladies’ Captain for Morpeth Golf Club has teed off a charity fund-raising campaign.

Christine Taberham and her friends Pam and John Lee organised a charity dinner at Ashiana’s Indian Restaurant in Bedlington, raising an impressive £1,225 for The British Lung Foundation (BLF).

The event was held in memory of Mrs Taberham’s school friend Anne Harriman, who suffered from a rare lung condition.

The BLF supports families affected by lung disease, funding research, running support groups and providing specialist nurses to give respiratory care to patients at home.

An estimated one in five people are affected by lung disease in the UK.

Mrs Taberham hopes to raise funds for the charity throughout her year as Ladies’ Captain at Morpeth Golf Club, as well as increase awareness of the BLF’s valuable work.
