Morpeth Lions Club

THIS month Morpeth Lions Club recruited a new member.

David Shanks moved to Morpeth two years ago and has been looking for opportunities to do charity work. His work colleagues suggested he might try the Lions Club and, after undergoing the formal procedures, the Lions were delighted to welcome him as a member.

David is a native of East Kilbride near Glasgow. He is in his mid 30’s and becomes the youngest member of the club. At the age of 20 he joined Coca Cola Enterprises and has had several roles. In 2011 he was offered the post of Quality, Environment, Health and Safety Manager at its Morpeth plant.

David has never learnt to drive, which will rule him out of some of the Lions’ transport duties, but this is no problem.

David said he was attracted by the work that the Lions undertake and that it was free from politics or religion.
