HERALD readers may be able to help solve the mystery of some antiques.

Morpeth dealer David Tomlin, who runs Antiques and Collectables in Newgate Street, is seeking information about some of his items.

He has come into possession of two old bottles, one from Alnwick, labelled R Potts and Son and featuring Bondgate Tower, and the other marked Jobling and Co, from Morpeth.

Mr Tomlin is particularly interested in the latter as he has found no records of the company.

Another of his items is a sampler signed by Margaret Tait, aged ten, from Morpeth, and dated June 19, 1867.

Mr Tomlin is keen to find out more about Margaret and hopes she may have family in the area.

He said: “People might not know anything, but I thought they were interesting items anyway.”
