Various coffee mornings took place across Northumberland last Friday to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support.

In Morpeth, individuals such as Kirkhill resident Anne Straker organised an event at their home and the businesses taking part in the annual initiative included Saks on Bridge Street and the town’s branch of Marks & Spencer in Sanderson Arcade.

The Macmillan coffee morning at Newminster Middle School and Technology College was a big success as £410.12 was raised.

The school would like to thank all the parents and students for their support and Benny’s Toon Macaroons, a regular at the weekly Morpeth Market, for its contribution on the day.
