A community organisation is looking forward to the year ahead after receiving a funding boost.
The volunteers running Pegswood Community Hub raised concerns about its future earlier in the year when there were doubts about whether it would receive the money it needed for its activities and regular sessions.
Some members of Pegswood Parish Council had said that the Hub should cater for a wider range of age groups and the authority insisted it would only help pay for activities and not running costs.
But both chairs agreed to meet with each other and the issues have now been resolved, meaning that funding for the next 12 months has been secured.
And there was recently further good news for the building on Longhirst Road as it has received a £10,500 grant from the Potland Burn Community Trust Fund to renew the toilets.
Pegswood Community Hub chairman Peter Stonell said: “Having the meetings with parish council chair Simon Willcox has really helped us to develop better lines of communication and we’re pleased that the funding issues have been sorted.
“We thought we could get half of the money we needed for the toilets from Potland Burn, so to get the full amount was a big bonus.”
