OLD school pals have come together to raise more than £1,000 for Diabetes UK.

A charity curry night was held at the Ashianna Indian restaurant in Bedlington by Morpeth resident Roseanne Robinson and friends John and Pam Lee. Mr Lee and Mrs Robinson were in the same year at Blyth Grammar School and share a birthday.

Mrs Robinson, of De Merley Road, has had Type 1 diabetes for 15 years and is insulin dependent. She wanted to support Diabetes UK because of its research and awareness work.

A total of £1,050 was raised, including a donation from the restaurant’s bar takings.
